The Tamil Youth Organizations joins Amnesty International in  condemning the acts of the Sri Lanka Government in killing 50 Internally Displaced Civilians in Batticaola, Eastern Sri Lanka. On  November 8, 2006 Sri Lanka army fired Multi-Barrel Rockets and artillery shells, hitting a school where five thousand civilians had sought refuge. The Internally Displaced Civilians fled their homes over the past three weeks in order to escape from war zones.

CIBC Run for the Cure

 On October 1st, 2006 the Tamil Youth Organization participated in the 15th Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in Toronto's High Park. Over 170,000 Canadians in 50 communities participated in similiar in walk or run for the cure raising weill in excess of $23 million.

The Tamil Youth Organization held a Youth Forum in partnership Imagewith various Universities on the 7th of October, 2006.  The goal of the forum was to  encourage and empower the Tamil Youth to take on an active role in their student organizations and communities, regardless of any outright discrimination and false media portrayal.  The forum introduced them to resources  available to them in their community.

TYO Condemns the freezing of TRO accounts by the Govt of Sri Lanka

The Tamil Youth Organization is outraged and condemns the act of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, who is supposedly responsible for immobilizing TRO accounts. As of Monday, August 29th, 2006, the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) has unofficially been informed through various banks in Sri Lanka, who claim to be instructed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, to "freeze" all the TRO accounts. However, TRO is still awaiting to receive official notification and credible information from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka as to WHY the accounts have been frozen.
